Double-Take

Got some more 600 film after nagging my father =]. I also was able to take the filter out of the electric eye and replace it with a clear plastic. Finally My sx-70 was completely compatable with the 600 film. Once again I had horrible lighting conditions, as it was about to rain outside, but the result came out a little better then the last.
This kind of bored me, so I decided it was time for a shot at double-exposure. The preparation was tedious; I had to go into a cramped closet to suffice as a dark room, take out the film pack, blindly insert a cut out Polaroid, then a cover sheet, and following that, I had to force the film pack back into the unaccepting camera. A lot of work for one exposure. Surprisingly my little sister didn't mind being involved in a shot, (she never wants anything to do with me) and she gave me a facial expression that was priceless.
The following day I made some more trips to the closet and messed around some more outside. The cigarette ones I did didn't come out as clear as I wanted to...but I went by trial and error and created a masterpiece of the great Buddha. See for your selfRevelation.

Progess :D

So last night my filter came in for my camera. I had been waiting for this almost all week and I could not wait to see the results. Because of my impatience I ended up taking the pictures in my house at around midnight, so of course the lighting wasn't that great. Most of the shots still seem a little over exposed so next time I am probably gonna shoot in broad daylight with the exposure set to the darkest setting. But first another trip to Wal-mart for more 600 film is needed. Wonderful.
Here is my first shot with the filter and 600 film...I was somewhat of an idiot trying to take the picture in the poorly lit area, and the film ended up being exposed for a tedious 30 seconds.
Take 2 was a little better. I attempted to shoot my sun conure, Cusco, but with the poor lighting and long exposure again, he was all blurry. Mostly for the fact that he wouldn't stay still...but I really liked how it turned outNext I decided to be a little conceited in the last series of shots...the lighting was a little better, but the camera still decided to long expose. I really liked how these turned out too, espescially the focus on the legs. I tried to do a composition and add my torso, but alas there was no more film. Hopefully I can finish it another day.

Just Lovely

Friday my film finally came in! Even though it cost me $40, I wasn't surprised to find it enclosed in an old-beat up cardboard packaged box, and upon further inspection the expiration date was from 1998. I had no worries about the film being messed up since it was never opened and still sealed in the foil. But I was wrong.
My camera finally came to life when I slid in the fresh battery pack and film, and I could feel my creative senses tingling! Within seconds I was waiting for my German Shepard to finish his business so I could take an appropriate shot of him.

It's a little akward to use and adjust, and aligning your line of sight with the image shown in the camera is tricky. But once I got everything straightened out, I pushed the red button when my dog came running back.This is what happens when one buys super-expired film. Emulsion leaks :[

I thought I had just wasted a good forty bucks, but the exposures from then on became very interesting. Although several more blank ones came out, I did get some really cool pictures. I also got a chance to experiment with the 600 film I found at Wal-mart. My Friend Courtney and I mad some minor adjustments to the camera to accept the new film, but not enough to correct the exposure differences of the film and camera. The images we got were soooooo awesome (shown up top) ! I can't wait until my camera is fully compatible with the 600 series!
